Research Exchange and Graphene Workshop in South Africa

International Research Mobility and Strategic Partnership Building

In November 2025, our team headed to South Africa for an exciting Erasmus mobility at North-West University in Potchefstroom. Valentina returned for her second Erasmus traineeship, happily reuniting with her water research group, while Špela began her first international traineeship and quickly felt at home in the lab, successfully completing her PhD-related work in the cell laboratory.

After two weeks, mentors Sara and Damjana joined the team, delivering an engaging lecture and hands-on workshop for professors, senior students, and doctoral candidates. The visit wrapped up on a high note with participation in the ACCORDS project meeting and the Graphene Workshop in Khaya Ibhubesi, Parys.

Alongside the intensive research and academic exchange, the team also had the opportunity to admire the natural and cultural wonders of South Africa, adding a memorable personal dimension to the experience. The month was filled with research, collaboration, new connections, and memories that will last a lifetime.
